In April, Fono Technology’s after-sales technical team visited the East Branch of the Shanghai Library to conduct specialized inspections and maintenance of its self-service book sterilization machines, ensuring the reliable operation of the equipment and safeguarding reading hygiene for countless patrons, thereby supporting the high‑quality services of the smart library.
As the largest single‑building library in China, the Shanghai Library East Branch handles a high daily visitor volume and sees frequent book circulation. Since its installation, the Fono self‑service book sterilization unit has played a critical role in disinfecting books, removing dust, and eliminating odors. This inspection focuses on the equipment’s full lifecycle maintenance, covering five key areas: overall performance testing, calibration of core components, consumable replacement, thorough cleaning, and operator‑training for optimized workflows.
At the inspection site, the technical team conducted a thorough “health check” on each unit: assessing the degradation of UV lamps and promptly replacing them to maintain optimal disinfection performance, ensuring compliance with the 99.99% sterilization rate; calibrating door‑controlled switches; performing deep cleaning of both the interior and exterior to guarantee clean air output and quiet operation; identifying and addressing safety mechanisms to eliminate potential risks; and fine‑tuning operating parameters to enable users to disinfect and de‑dust six books in just 30 seconds, thereby enhancing the user experience. Meanwhile, Fono’s technicians engaged in active communication with library staff, sharing maintenance best practices and simple troubleshooting tips to help the library strengthen its capacity for independent equipment management.
